How it works

New to homeschool? Start with a clear path instead of a pile of tabs.

MonkeeBooks helps you understand your state requirements, set up each homeschooler, find curriculum, and keep moving without expecting you to know everything on day one.

The first steps

1
Select your state

State requirements become the legal foundation for the portal.

2
Choose a curriculum preference

Faith-based, secular, mixed, or still deciding. Each homeschooler can override the family default later.

3
Add your homeschoolers

Tell us how many are starting, then add name, age, grade, learning notes, and optional student login details for each one.

4
Get your books

See the subjects your state requires, matching MonkeeBooks inventory, and outside-provider options. Log outside purchases in the Library for records and later resale.

5
Use Overview as your home base

Completed checkmarks, state actions, calendar work, curriculum, records, assessments, and marketplace activity stay visible in one place.

Then MonkeeBooks grows with the school year

Calendar

Schedule assignments, tests, and events while keeping state law separate from optional planning recommendations.

Library

Track curriculum from MonkeeBooks or anywhere else and keep it ready for academic records and later resale.

Record Keeping

See state requirements with official sources and keep useful optional attendance, assessment, and academic history.

Marketplace

Buy curriculum without a subscription and use guided Stripe Connect onboarding when you want to sell.

Testing

Free starts with basic assessment records, answer keys, and scores. Advanced quiz automation is planned for Pro.

Multi-year history

Pro will deepen continuity across years and homeschoolers with portfolios, transcripts, and cumulative reports.

FAQs

Common questions before you start

Do I have to pay to start using MonkeeBooks?

No. The Free plan is designed to help families get started, understand the basics, use the marketplace, and keep core homeschool information organized.

Does MonkeeBooks tell me what my state requires?

State guidance separates official requirements and source links from optional MonkeeBooks recommendations. Guidance is educational information, not legal advice.

Do I have to buy curriculum through MonkeeBooks?

No. You can shop the MonkeeBooks marketplace, use outside curriculum, and log outside purchases in your Family Library.

Can I sell curriculum I am finished with?

Yes. Sellers can connect Stripe for payouts, list books directly, and use seller inventory tools. The long-term workflow also supports moving eligible finished curriculum from the Family Library toward resale.

What does Pro add?

Pro is for families who want more automation, deeper planning and progress tools, multi-year history, polished records, and time-saving workflows. See the Free vs Pro page for current availability.

Can I use the marketplace without Pro?

Yes. Buying and selling in the marketplace does not require a Pro subscription. Marketplace transaction fees can apply to seller transactions.
